Fire and Ice
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
If torture and war is the world on fire
And bottomless poverty the world on ice,
I boldly go with my desire,
To stop each war and quench each fire.
But if I can serve my world twice
Bottomless poverty I also hate.
Starvation is never nice.
Stopping this is also great
And will suffice.
